Work History:
I’m currently lucky enough to be spending my time learning all about Space, but this isn’t the only job I’ve done. Unlike some people, I’ve had a lot of jobs on the way to achieving my dream of being able to do science everyday.ย I wanted to be an astronaut when I was at school, and like most things worth doing, it takes a lot of work and a lot of steps to get where you want to be.ย I’ve worked in shops, cafes, hotels, as a receptionist, a tour guide and I was a science teacher for a number of years before deciding to go back to University. It might seem a bit scary to decide what you want to do when you leave school, but if you work hard you can get to some extraordinary places.

About Me:
I recently moved from Scotland to Milton Keynes with my two dogs.ย We enjoy big muddy walks in the country, and exploring to find all the local wildlife in our area.ย When the dogs are busy napping, I love to read and sing (badly) along to the radio!

The project I’m working on at the moment is all about making it possible for young people like you to live and work on the Moon in the future.ย I’m studying ways of making technology which is really small and easy to send to the Moon, which would be able to find out more about the water on the surface of the Moon.ย Water that will be super important for Astronauts of the future!
-
My Typical Day:
Studying for my PhD, I get to work in a lab with a lot of cool technology.ย As I’m designing and building, I’ll be spending a lot of time taking things apart and putting them back together (all those LEGO building skills come in very useful), as well as doing lots of testing.ย ย I also do a lot of work on my computer, doing lots of reading and research to learn more about lots of different things.
Some days I will work from the office at the University, and other days I work from home.ย This helps me to get everything done, whilst also being able to manage all the things I need to do at home and look after my dogs.
