The most recent human spaceflight mission carried the following astronauts to the international space station: Nicole Aunapu Mann & Josh Cassada (USA), Koichi Wakata (Japan) and Anna Kikina (Russia). They joined Frank Rubio (US), Dimitri Petelin (Russia) and the commander of the ISS Sergey Prokopyev (Russia). Russia calls people who go into space “cosmonauts”, based on the Russian word for “space”.

There are also 3 Chinese “taikonauts” on the Chinese space station “Tiangong”: Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe.

So there are currently 10 people in space!
