There are lots of brilliant experiments in psychology so it’s hard to choose a favourite. The best for understanding how humans cope in space are the isolation experiments that are run by NASA, ESA and the Russian Space Agency. They confine groups of five or six people for many months and monitor their behaviour, wellbeing and social interactions. This helps us understand what things can go wrong in long duration space missions, and also how space agencies can make things better.
