I’m a big fan of Jocelyn Bell Burnell. She didn’t get a Nobel prize that she should have got, and she has done so much to improve the situation for women in science.

I like Dr. Stephen Hawking, as he did a lot of important research despite having a serious disability, and also because he was a great science communicator, making difficult topics easier to understand.

I have a mug with a picture of Marie Tharp on my desk. She did amazing work investigating the structure of the sea floor which contributed to the discovery of plate tectonics.
